Operational Deflection Shape
The Operating Deflection Shape (ODS) is the simplest way to see how a machine or structure moves under given operating conditions.
The ODS contains the overall dynamic response of a structure due to forced and resonant vibration.
There are two ways in order to make an ODS:
Time-based ODS
The time-based animation allows to sweeps in a set of time histories in order to describe the motions at multiple points and directions on a test item.
Frequency-based ODS
The frequency-based animation allows to animate the structure tested in correspondence of the interesting frequencies. With this animation, the resonant vibration and other types of forced vibration can be observed.
